Ciara – True Princess

Ciara’s complete name is Ciara Princess Harris.  Why her parents did not change the “c” in Ciara to a “t” baffles us, considering her second name would make that appropriate.  Ciara was born in Austin Texas on October 25, 1985, but because her father was in the US army, the family was stationed in different areas – Germany, New York, California, Arizona, and Nevada.  The young lady has multiple talents:  singer, songwriter, dancer and actress.  She told her mother, however, that she wanted to sing, and her mother wasn’t sure at that time it was what Ciara truly wanted.  It was while she was watching Destiny’s Child performing on television that she realized a career in music was where she wanted to excel in.  She met producer Jazze Pha – often referred to as her soulmate – and the two produced a single entitled “Goodies” and made it to the ranks of both the US and UK charts.  Supporting her were Jazze Pha, Sean Garrett and Lil Jon, and in no time Ciara was gaining fame and glory in Australia, Germany, Sweden, and New Zealand.  “Goodies” sold over three million copies in the US alone.

Ciara’s second single was “1,2 Step” with Missy Elliott.  This made it to the top five in the US in early 2005; on April 11, it was released in the UK.  “Oh” was her third single with Ludacris, and again the song hit the # 2 spot on the Hot 100 and # 4 on the UK charts.  Last year in July, she released a DVD containing all three music videos featuring her performances in Soul Train Awards and did multiple shots for the Goodies song.

Ciara’s working relationship with Missy Elliott and Bow Wow earned her the reputation of being capable of doing both rap and sing.  She sang a duet with Bow Wow in the latter’s third album Wanted, singing the song “Like You.”  Ciara’s fourth single, “And I” did not quite make it to the top charts, unlike her first three singles.

Ciara’s first Grammy Award happened in February this year where she won in the category of Best Short Form Music Video with Missy Elliott.  She has also finished filming “All You’ve Got” for MTV.
